The service
Lantern is a Chinese language reference and study application published by Lantern Language (“we”). By using the app you agree to these terms. The app shows no advertising; Study Pro is an optional subscription.
Beta software
While Lantern is distributed through TestFlight, it is beta software: features may change, builds expire, and things may break. Please back up anything you would hate to lose.
Subscriptions
Study Pro is billed monthly or annually through the App Store or Google Play and renews automatically until cancelled. Prices, including any introductory price, are shown before purchase. Cancelling stops renewal at the end of the current period; your saved vocabulary is never deleted. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
Content
Dictionary content is derived from CC-CEDICT (CC BY-SA 4.0), Tatoeba (CC BY 2.0 FR), wordfreq (CC BY-SA 4.0) and other openly licensed sources credited in the app, together with our own editorial material. We work hard to be accurate, but a dictionary can be wrong; please tell us when it is. Your notes and lists remain yours; we store them only to provide the service.
Acceptable use
Don't abuse the service, attempt to circumvent purchases, interfere with other users, or scrape or redistribute content at scale.
Warranty and liability
The app is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date above changes when we do. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
